Mazenodian Carol Service 2025

The Mazenodian Carol Service 2025 was prayerfully celebrated on Sunday, 14th December 2025, at the De La Salle Hall. Gathered in faith and joy, the Mazenodian community came together to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
The theme of the Carol Service, Lux Mundi (Light of the World), beautifully reflected Christ as the true Light who dispels darkness and brings hope, peace, and salvation to all humanity.
The Eucharistic celebration was led by the Chief Celebrant, Rev. Fr. Anton Dinesh Prish, Priest of St. Peter and Paul’s Church, Katunayake, who guided the congregation in prayer and reflection, reminding all present of the true meaning of Christmas.

Dear Parents and Students,

Notice of School Vacation

This is to inform you that the school vacation will commence on Saturday, 10th January 2026, due to the commencement of the second session of the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination 2025.
The College will resume educational activities on Wednesday, 21st January 2026, for the continuation of the First Term of the 2026 academic year.
During the vacation period, selected sports activities will be conducted at the College in preparation for the Annual Inter-House Athletic Meet 2026.
All students are required to attend the Annual Pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Lanka, Thewatte, on Thursday, 15th January 2026. Please note that this will be a compulsory school day for all students.

🎒 Welcoming the New Grade 6 Students to DMC 📚

On Thursday, 8th January 2026, the new Grade 6 students were warmly welcomed to De Mazenod College, Kandana. The programme commenced with a special prayer service held at the College Chapel, seeking God’s blessings as the students begin this new chapter of their educational journey.

Following the prayer service, valuable instructions and guidance were delivered by Rev. Bro. Henry Dissanayake and Rev. Bro. Anton Gunathileka, Deputy Principals of the College. Mrs. Shiromi Baddaliyanage, the Grade 6 Supervisor, was also present to support and guide the students. The event was coordinated by Mr. Sujith Cooray, the Registrar of the College.
We wish all the Grade 6 students a happy, meaningful, and successful journey at De Mazenod College, and we look forward to accompanying them throughout their years at DMC.

Staff Development Programme at DMC

The Staff Development Programme was held on Monday, the 5th of January 2026, at the De La Salle Hall. 

Two distinguished resource persons delivered insightful and informative lectures focusing on the latest developments and reforms in the Sri Lankan education system. 
The sessions were highly beneficial, enhancing the professional knowledge and pedagogical understanding of the teaching staff.

Notice of School Commencement 2026

All students and parents are hereby informed that the mock examinations for G.C.E. Ordinary Level 2025 (Grade 11) students will commence on Monday, 5th January 2026.

The school will reopen for all other students on Tuesday, 6th January 2026. 
On this day, school activities will conclude at 1.30 p.m.
Parents are kindly reminded to ensure that the facility fees are paid up to December 2025.

DMC 91 Batch Mass

A special Mass was held on Saturday, 15th November 2025, at 4.30 PM at the College Chapel in remembrance of the Mazenodians of the 91 Batch of De Mazenod College, Kandana, who have passed away. The gathering offered a moment of prayer, gratitude, and reflection in honour of their memories. Following the service, special gift packs were distributed to the minor staff of De Mazenod College as a gesture of appreciation for their dedicated service.

MINDSCAPE ‘25 | SCIENCE EXHIBITION

The Science Exhibition at De Mazenod College, Kandana, was held on Friday, 31st October 2025. 
The event was organized by the Science Union of the Advanced Level science section. 
It provided a comprehensive demonstration of all laboratory experiments and practical applications prescribed in the Ordinary Level Science curriculum, highlighting fundamental scientific principles and investigative methods.

The Children’s Day Celebration Holy Mass of the Upper School was solemnly celebrated on Wednesday, 1st October 2025, by Rev. Fr. Amila Perera, OMI, Priest in Charge of Studies at St. Joseph’s Oblate Juniorate, Kohuwala, Nugegoda, and a devoted Old Mazenodian of the 2009 A/L batch at the Upper School Open Air Stage, invoking God’s blessings upon all children and the Mazenodian family.
