🌟🙏 DMC Corpus Christi Procession 2026 🙏🌟

On Thursday, 25th June 2026, our College community gathered in deep reverence to celebrate the Annual Corpus Christi Procession.

In preparation, students were spiritually nourished through Eucharistic Devotions held in the chapel during preceding days. Sacred repositories were beautifully arranged near the canteen, Grotto, and Primary Open Air Stage, inviting all to prayerful reflection.

The Eucharistic procession commenced from the chapel, with the Blessed Sacrament carried on a gaily decorated chariot, radiating joy and devotion.

The celebration culminated with the Final Benediction at the College Open Air Stage, presided over by Rev. Fr. Priyanjana Perera T.O.R., Vice Principal of Loyola College, Bopitiya.

Our beloved Principal, Rev. Bro. Janaka Fonseka, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to this solemn and grace-filled honour to our Lord.

May the Eucharistic Lord continue to bless our College family and strengthen us in faith, unity, and love

LAYING OF THE FOUNDATION STONE DMC NEW MIDDLE SCHOOL BUILDING

The Laying of the Foundation Stone Ceremony for the New Middle School Building of De Mazenod College, Kandana was held on Wednesday, 17th June 2026 at 9.00 a.m. The Chief Guest, Rev. Bro. Christy Croos FSC, Provincial Visitor LASAD, together with the Guests of Honour, Rev. Bro. Bertram Perera FSC and Rev. Bro. Granville Perera FSC, both Past Principals of De Mazenod College, were warmly welcomed in front of the College Chapel by Rev. Bro. Janaka Fonseka FSC, Principal. The College Western Band accompanied the distinguished guests to the building site. The ceremony commenced with a Welcome Address by the Principal, followed by the Opening Prayer and Blessing of the Foundation Stones by the College Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Chishantha Thilakeratne OMI. Subsequently, 16 blessed foundation stones were laid by the distinguished guests, marking the commencement of this significant project. The Chief Guest, Rev. Bro. Christy Croos FSC, then delivered his Address, highlighting the vision and mission of this new chapter in Mazenodian education. The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Rev. Bro. Henry Dissanayake FSC, Deputy Principal, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to this memorable occasion. This historic event stands as a milestone in the journey of De Mazenod College, symbolizing growth, faith, and dedication to the future of our students.

A Grace-Filled Milestone in the Journey of Faith

De Mazenod College, Kandana

With hearts uplifted in thanksgiving, the De Mazenod College Prayer Unit celebrated a historic milestone as it held its first-ever General Meeting, marking a significant chapter in its 27-year journey of prayer, unity, and service in Christ.

The solemn gathering was graced by the presence of Rev. Bro. Henry Dissanayake (Deputy Principal), Rev. Bro. Anton Gunathilake (Deputy Principal), Rev. Bro. Ashane Demian, Rev. Bro. Anton Piyumal, Rev. Fr. Chryshantha Thilakarathna (College Chaplain), Mrs. Dinithi Tharushima (Teacher-in-Charge of the De La Salle Society), and Mrs. Nimali Perera (Teacher-in-Charge of the Prayer Unit).

A special presentation reflected on the inspiring journey of the Prayer Unit since its establishment in 1999, paying tribute to the dedication, sacrifice, and faithful service that have nurtured generations of Mazenodians in the spirit of St. John Baptist de La Salle.

Under the loving guidance of Mrs. Nimali Perera and the dedicated leadership of President Master Eshantha Fernando, together with the Executive Board and members, the Prayer Unit continues to flourish, witnessing to the Gospel and enriching the spiritual life of the College community.

🙏 With grateful hearts, we entrust our mission to the Lord, praying that the Prayer Unit will continue to be a beacon of faith, unity, and service, inspiring all to draw closer to Christ through prayer and fellowship.

A/L High Achievers Felicitation Ceremony 2025

The A/L High Achievers Felicitation Ceremony 2025 was held on Friday, 22nd May 2026 at 8.00 a.m. at the De La Salle Hall, De Mazenod College, Kandana. The Chief Guest was Dr. Mrs. Michelle Vindya Silva, Senior Lecturer at the University of Kelaniya. She is a distinguished alumna of the College from the 2004 A/L batch and has also served as a teacher in the Commerce Section of the College for two years.

This event was a remarkable and successful occasion for De Mazenod College, Kandana.

Special tokens of appreciation during the ceremony were awarded to

* Warnakulasooriya Augustinu Riveen Mandive, who secured 3As in the Physical Science stream with a Z-score of 2.5669, achieving District 5th place.

* Ethmandalage Shavin Dakshaka Perera, who secured 3As with a Z-score of 2.5619, achieving District 7th place.

The dance and song performances added extra color to the event.

The ceremony was graced by the Rev. Brother Principal, two Deputy Principals, other Rev. Brothers, the Primary Headmistress Rev. Sister, the College Chaplain, sectional heads, teachers of the 2025 A/L batch, members of the SDS, the A/L 2025 high achievers with their parents, and students of Grades 10, 11, and 12.

Congratulations to all the high achievers!

Congratulations Notice | Master Malith Koushan

We proudly extend our heartfelt congratulations to our distinguished young Mazenodian Master Malith Koushan, who brought honor to our college by winning a medal at the 6th Asian Beach Games - "Sanya 2026".

We also gratefully acknowledge Old Mazenodian Mr. Joy Danushka Perera, who served as the official coach of this prestigious meet.

🏅🏃‍♂️ DMC Inter-House Athletic Meet 2026 | Primary Department 🏃‍♀️🏅

The Annual Inter-House Athletic Meet 2026 of the Primary Department was successfully held on Saturday, 14th February 2026, at 1.00 p.m. at the College Grounds.

The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Amila Chathuranga Silva, Senior Sales Manager of MTV Channels (Pvt) Ltd., whose participation added great value to the occasion.

The Guest of Honour, Dr. (Mrs.) Nandani Nanayakkara, distributed the awards and appreciated the outstanding performances of the young athletes.

The meet showcased remarkable talent, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among the students.

🏆 Romould House emerged as the Champions, securing first place.

Congratulations to all participants, winners, and the staff members who contributed to making this event a grand success!

DMC | Ash Wednesday Mass | Lent 2026

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season, a sacred time of prayer, fasting, and reflection for Christians around the world.

The Ash Wednesday Holy Mass was celebrated at the College Chapel of De Mazenod College on Wednesday, 18th February 2026.

The cross was reverently carried in procession by members of the College Scouts, together with the Rev. Bro. Principal, the Rev. Bro. Deputy Principal, and the teachers, symbolizing the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who gave His life on the cross for the salvation of all humanity. The cross was then placed in front of the statue of St. Joseph at the Upper School premises.

The Holy Mass was celebrated by the College Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Chrishantha Thilakaratne. The religious observance was organized by the College Religious Committee and the College Scouts in collaboration with the teachers of the College.

Rev. Fr. and Rev. Brothers placed blessed ashes on the foreheads of the participants during the Mass, symbolizing repentance and reminding us of our mortality and God’s mercy.

May this Lenten season inspire all to grow in faith, humility, and compassion.

Tender notice to build Middle School Building

Sealed tenders are invited for the construction of the Middle School Building.

Tender applications can be obtained from the Secretary, De Mazenod college,

Kandana up to 05th April 2026.

A non-refundable deposit of Rs. 50,000/- must be paid to obtain the tender

application.

Duly completed and sealed bids should be submitted to the Principal, De Mazenod

College Kandana on or before 06th April 2026,2.00 p.m.

Annual Pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Lanka, Thewatte

The Annual Pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Lanka, Thewatte, was prayerfully observed on Thursday, 15th January 2026. This sacred occasion marked the first programme in the De Mazenod College School Calendar for 2026.

All staff members and students participated in the pilgrimage, walking together in faith to the main entrance of the Basilica Church. The Holy Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Hashan Asantha Dissanayake, an old boy of De Mazenod College, who is currently serving as a member of the staff at Saint Nicholas International College, Negombo.

Following the Holy Mass, the prayer of consecration, dedicating the school to Mother Mary, was solemnly recited.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Rev. Bro. Janaka Fonseka, Principal of De Mazenod College, Kandana, expressing heartfelt appreciation to all participants and to everyone who contributed towards making the event a great success.
